The tallest soccer players in the world: from 203 to 210 centimeters
We are used to the fact that the tallest players a
We are used to the fact that the tallest players are central defenders, goalkeepers and slightly less often central forwards, because on the flanks or in the center of the field players need agility and speed, which players with a height of about two meters can not boast.
Our top of the tallest footballers of our time is no exception: all representatives of our selection play in these positions and often shine in broadcasts on Melbet web version. The list includes only current players, and we took the data from the authoritative website Transfermarkt.
11. Feisal Mulic - 203 cm
Feisal Mulic is a 27-year-old Serbian striker, whose career can not be called stellar. But at the same time, the footballer managed to play in the second German Bundesliga for Munich 1860, in the top championships of Belgium and Israel for Muskron and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Mulic began his professional career in the second team of Munich 1860, and in 2014 he made his debut for the main team of the Lions. Since 2021, Mulic has been playing in the South Korean championship with Seongnam, one of the outsiders in K-League 1.
Feisal Mulic has also played for the Serbian national team, but only for the U-21 team. In 2015, he made his debut for Serbia U-21 in a match against his Lithuanian teammates. After that, he played two more matches, in which he scored one goal. Unfortunately, the player failed to make it to the main team of his country.
10. Lasina Traore - 203 cm
Lasina Traore is the most famous footballer in our top of the tallest footballers. In his time, he played for the giants of soccer: "Monaco" and "Everton". Also in his career there were other famous clubs - Sporting Gijon and Amiens.
The best period of the career of this Ivorian huge striker was the period at Monaco. And although Traore did not stay long in the "Monegasques", having spent only 25 matches in all tournaments, he managed to mark four goals and three assists.
From an early age, Lacina Traore was noted as a promising enough forward who could grow into a good player in the future. But the striker's full potential was hampered by constant injuries, because of which the Ivorian simply did not have time to gain optimal conditions. The French club tried to revive Traore's career by sending him to different clubs on loan, but even there the striker did not do well.
In 2022, 31-year-old Traore finished playing in the second league of Portugal, in "Varzina" - the penultimate team of the championship, where he is not even a stable player in the main squad.
For the national team of Côte d'Ivoire, Lasina played from 2012 to 2015. During this time he managed to play 13 matches and score 3 goals.
9. Andries Noppert - 203 cm
The first goalkeeper in our top is Andries Noppert, a 28-year-old goalkeeper from the Netherlands, who plays in his country's top league for Gow Ehead Eagles in 2022. The player joined this club back in early 2021, when the club was playing in the first league. But it was not until the second round of the 2021/22 season that Noppert truly became a mainstay.
Noppert started his career at Dutch side Heerenveen, but only played in the U-19 and U-21 teams. After not getting a chance at his hometown club, Andries moved to the Brady. In three seasons at the club, the goalkeeper played only seven official matches and decided to try himself in the Italian Serie C at Foggia.
In 2022, Noppert experienced the heyday of his career. In 11 league games, one of the highest-ranked players in the world conceded only 13 goals, and in three matches he left his gates untouched. A very good result, considering not the strongest lineup of the league debutant.
8. Pap-Alioun Ndiaye - 203 cm
This very tall central defender is well known to UPL fans. Pap-Alioun Ndiaye played in the Poltava "Vorskla" from 2019 to 2021.
At the beginning of his career, Ndiaye managed to be in the structures of the French "Valenciennes" and Italian "Bologna", playing in the U-19. Also Ndiaye managed to play in the third division of Spain for the club "Lorca Deportiva".
During his time playing in Ukraine, Aljun progressed the most. For two seasons his transfer value increased nine times - from 100 thousand euros to 900 thousand. But in the summer of 2021 as a free agent Ndiaye joined the Austrian "Altach".
I note that this transition was very controversial, and "Vorskla" even filed a lawsuit against Aljun, noting that the player independently left the location of Poltava and joined another team. Vorskla coach Yuriy Maksimov expressed his opinion, regarding this huge defender:
Was there a desire to turn Aljun? The footballer is not bad, promising, but he created such a thing in the team... He does not fit our team by character. The microclimate in the team has spoiled. It is not worth spending nerves on him, if a person does not want to.
7. Kjell Scheerpen - 204 cm
The second Dutch goalkeeper in our top of the tallest players in the world is Kjell Scheerpen. Scheerpen started his career at Emmen, and after a successful 2019/20 season went to Ajax for promotion. In Ajax, the goalkeeper failed to become the main goalkeeper: Scheerpen played only 4 matches for the main team in 2 seasons, mostly playing for the second team of the Amsterdam club. But this did not prevent the player from becoming the Dutch champion and winning the Dutch Cup in the season 2020/21.
In the summer of 2021 for 5 million euros Scheerpen moved to Brighton, but even there he mainly played only for the reserve team, having played one match for the base in the cup. In 2022 Scheerpen played on loan in Belgium for "Ostend". The goalkeeper is only 22 years old, so he still has a chance to play at the highest level.
Scheerpen was also called up to the Netherlands U-19 and U-21 national teams, for which he played a total of 19 matches and conceded 13 goals.
6. Suleiman Isaac Toure - 204 cm
Souleymane Toure is a promising French central defender, who plays in the second league of France for Le Havre. Information about this real pillar of defense is not much. It is only known that Toure passed all the degrees of the soccer academy of Le Havre, and debuted for his hometown club in the season 2020/21. Toure managed to spend for "Le Havre" only 16 matches and marked on the field only four yellow cards.
Also Souleymane Touré plays for the France U-19 national team. In particular, the defender participated in the recent March qualifying matches for the U-19 European Championship, playing all three matches against teammates from the Czech Republic, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina without substitutions. I should also note that Toure even scored a goal in France's winning game against the Swedes.
5. Artem Korolchuk - 205 cm
Artem Korolchuk is the tallest footballer in the history of Ukraine. The 31-year-old striker plays in the second most important league in Georgia for Dinamo Zugdidi, with which he signed a contract in March 2022. Before that Korolchuk played in the First League of Ukraine for Obolon and Uzhgorod, as well as for amateur Victoria from Sumy.
Artem's professional career began at Obolon, where he moved in 2013 from one of the regional teams. During his time playing for the Kyiv club, the then Obolon coach said that despite his height of 205 cm, Korolchuk was not a leader in the air, "playing with his feet better than his head".
In Ukraine, Korolchuk was compared, of course, to Peter Crouch. And yet Artem did not show a stable game and did not score regularly, so he has only external similarities with Crouch.
4. Norbert Haimamba - 205 cm
This 23-year-old goalkeeper began his European career in the second team of Portuguese "Rio Ave", where he moved in the summer of 2018. Having not played a single game in a season, exactly a year later, Haimamba signed a contract with the club Oleiros from the third league of Portugal.
In the 2019/20 season, Norbert played 21 games for the club, and in the summer of 2020 he went for promotion to Aroca from the Portuguese top league. The 23-year-old Senegalese is the club's third-choice goalkeeper in 2022, having only played 3 games since his switch, in which he has conceded 7 goals.
3. Tomas Holi - 206 cm
Tomáš Holý is a 30-year-old Czech goalkeeper who belongs to English side Ipswich. Norbert spends the second part of the 2021/22 season on loan in the second English league at the club Port Vale. He played 9 games for Port Vale, in which he conceded only 7 goals, which significantly helped the club, leaving it one of the contenders for promotion.
Holla's professional career began at Sparta B Prague, for whom he made his debut on June 11, 2011 in the Czech Republic's second league in a 1-2 loss to Varnsdorf. The club loaned him out to Czech clubs Graffin (Vlasim), Viktoria Žižkov and Fastav. For Fastav, Holly played 20 matches in the Czech top division, of which he played 7 matches for zero.
In January 2017, Hollý decided to try himself in England, moving to League One midfielder Gillingham. In 3 seasons at the club, he became the main goalkeeper, having played 97 matches.
In the summer of 2019, Holles signed from Ipswich, and for 2 seasons became the main goalkeeper of the club. True, in the new season 2021/22 one of the tallest players in the world did not find a place in the team, and Tomasz was forced to go on loan for game practice.
It should be noted that Halls was called up to the Czech youth national teams U-16, U-17 and U-18, for which he played 12 games.
2. Christoph van Hout - 207 cm
Christophe van Hout started his career in the youth clubs of Belgium "Lommel United" and "Verbrudering". In 2004, Christophe moved to Dutch Willem II. Two years he played for the youth squad, then moved to the first team. But, having not played a single match for the basis of the Dutch club, in 2007 van Hout returned to Belgium in "Kortrijk". For almost 2 years in the club Christophe played only 3 matches and signed a contract with Liege "Standard".
The period in "Standard" can hardly be called successful for the goalkeeper: van Hout was only the third goalkeeper of the team and for 2 years played only 11 matches, and in 2011 he returned to Kortrijk. The second attempt at this club was more successful for Christophe. He was able to gain a foothold and played 32 matches for the club, after which he went for promotion to Genk.
While playing for Genk, van Hout even managed to play in the Europa League seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14, having played a total of 7 matches. Christophe also won the Belgian Cup in the season 2012/13. He signed a contract with the representative of the second league of Belgium "Westerlo", but he hasn't played in official matches since 2020.
1. Simon Bloch Jorgensen - 210 cm
Simon Bloch Jorgensen is the tallest soccer player in the world, of course, it is a goalkeeper. Jorgensen plays for Waltham Abbey in England's Southern League Central Division.
The 29-year-old German goalkeeper is a pupil of the Copenhagen academy, but he has not played a single match for the base. Jorgensen's entire career has been spent in the lower leagues of England and Denmark. Simon is not only the tallest goalkeeper in the history of soccer, but also generally the tallest soccer player of all time.
However, it is this very tall stature that may have prevented the German goalkeeper from building a successful career, because at 210 cm tall, it is very difficult to fold and kick balls that fly underneath.
