Premier League Winner Jamie Vardy and His Casino Outings - Serial Winner or Loser?

James Vardy has enjoyed an impressive career as a striker for Leicester City and the English national team, playing a crucial part in securing Leicester’s historic Premier League title win in 2015-16. Although he is often praised for his pace and energy, it appears these days his football career is taking a back seat as the player gets caught up in endless controversies.
Yes, it’s not just Vardy’s wife Rebecca stirring up drama these days. I mean who could forget the infamous ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial that gripped the nation involving Vardy’s former national teammate Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen. The High Court transcripts were so unbelievably juicy that they even inspired a West End play and TV drama based on the case. Unfortunately for Vardy, the legal dispute resulted in his wife being ordered to pay a six-figure sum as she lost her liable case.
Casino Controversy
As previously mentioned, Vardy is no stranger to a sticky situation especially when it comes to his gambling habits which have often led critics to question his commitment to his team and his priorities. His casino activity was first made public in 2015 when it was reported that he had opted for a night out at the casino just before a crucial match against Newcastle United.
Vardy landed in hot water again in 2016 when a video surfaced of the England international using a racial slur against a Japanese man in a casino. The dangerous striker was given a substantial fine as a result and ordered to undergo diversity training, although he denied being racist claiming at the time that he was just ignorant.
2021 did bring some luck for the player when he managed to secure a £30,000 casino win after beating Man City, gambling with teammates, at a party organised by the club’s chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
Based on his notorious experiences at traditional casinos, perhaps Vardy may be better off sticking to football. Or, at the very least limit his gambling habits should be limited to the online rather than brick-and-mortar variety, there are some of the best free spins bonuses from top providers, he just needs to know where to search. Mind you, with his chunky net worth, it’s not like he’s going to need to win money any time soon.
Tough Times
It seems that Vardy can’t catch a break as of late. The Leicester striker welcomed the New Year with local firefighters as his home gym went up in flames sustaining severe damages due to an electrical fault. The sprawling mansion features a sauna, tennis court, gym and indoor pool. It will also soon be home to a stable complex as the couple's plans to add a yard, stable and paddock for their total area of 5,482 sq. meters got approved.
At the start of this month, Vardy also suffered a glute injury in training and will no longer be able to participate in the next upcoming games which will put Leicester City in a vulnerable position in what is a tough run of Premier League fixtures in February.
Fairy Tale Ending
After enduring turbulent years following the explosive Wagatha Christie trial, it appears that Jamie Vardy’s relationship is back intact as his wife makes plans to renew their vows ahead of their 7-year anniversary.
The couple met back in 2014 when Rebekah was working at viper nightclub in Sheffield. They now share three children together Sofia, Finley, and Olivia. Rebekah also has two children, Megan and Taylor, from previous relationships. While Jaime shares a daughter, Ella, from his previous relationship with Emma Daggett.
What’s Next
Although Vardy’s deal with Leicester City comes to an end this year, the 36-year-old forward has no plans to hang up his boots any time soon. Yes, Vardy has confirmed that he wants to continue his career at Leicester City despite recently becoming a co-owner of the Rochester Rhinos, he explained that he has no plans on moving his family in the foreseeable future.
Rochester Rhinos have quite an impressive track record the only non-MLS side to have won the US Open Cup, despite the New York state-based team not playing competitively in four years. Vardy hopes to replicate the success of his “V9 Academy” in England, which offers non-League, whom Vardy felt were still good enough to play in professional football, a second chance.
